Couple standing in front of a lush garden. They are standing in a prom-like pose with the bride looking over her left shoulder at the groom. In her right hand you can see her boho inspired bouquet with dried pampus grass. The groom is in a white button-up with a blue-grey vest. He has a blue and white bowtie and pocket square.

The Importance of Videography On Your Wedding Day

You’ve heard all the questions.

“Is a wedding film worth it?” “Should I spend the money on a filmmaker?” “ Did you regret not having a videographer on your wedding day?”

More times than not I hear past brides and grooms on the forums say they regret not hiring a videographer. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it a million more times. Video is SUPER important. It’s also very important to hire a professional! Here are 3 reasons why I think a video is sooooooooooo important!

#1 Your wedding is one of the happiest days of your life and it goes by so fast.

You read that correctly. Take it from me, I’ve been to a lot of weddings. And as a recently married woman, I also know it firsthand. I don’t think I smiled more in my life than I did on my wedding day. Also, your mother means it when she says: “Your day will go by so fast!”  Now, why is a video important? Well, I have something that I can watch over and over again! It shows me things that I didn’t get to see or things I honestly can’t remember. I felt like my day went by in a blink of an eye and I love that I can sit down whenever I want and watch it! This is one of the top reasons videography is important on your wedding day!

Groom is wearing a black tuxedo and is leaning his forearm on the railing. On the right is a maroon-colored flag with a white circle. In the white circle is a maroon insignia and the words "Harvard Club Of Boston" You can see Commonwealth Ave below

#2 Video captures moments your photos can’t.

Don’t get me wrong here. Photos are also very important. But they don’t have one thing… AUDIO! Your photos can’t help you remember how you sounded through happy tears while you were saying your vows to your new husband or wife and they can’t tell you exactly what was said during your Maid of Honor or Best Man’s killer speech. A wedding video can!

#3 Your wedding film is a timeless keepsake.

Imagine this… 40 years from now you’re sitting in your living room with your grandchildren and they ask you about your wedding day. Instead of just telling them about it imagine being able to show it to them! Videography isn’t going away anytime soon. Your wedding film will outlive you. It will outlive everyone who was at your wedding. It’s a bite-sized clip of your day that you can watch whenever you would like. It’s a timeless keepsake. A family heirloom. It’s a record of timeless love!

Now you know why I think a video is super important. But here is one more thing that is just as important. I can not stress this enough! Hire a professional. I know not everyone has a budget for video but if you do you want to hire someone who knows what they are doing. Only a professional will know how to capture the best audio from the day, how to expose the camera properly, have backups in case of equipment failure, understand lighting, and know how to handle the flow of the day. Professionals will help you feel more relaxed during the day because you won’t have to worry about what they are doing. They will make sure they can do everything in their power to make your day as stress-free as possible!
